Shoreditch Carpetcleaning Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Shoreditch Carpetcleaning provides domestic and commercial carpet cleaning services in the UK. By making a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms. The purpose of this document is to explain the service process clearly, including how bookings are made, when payments become due, what happens if a job is cancelled or delayed, how liability is handled, how waste is managed, and which laws apply. For the avoidance of doubt, these terms apply to all carpet cleaning and related cleaning services arranged through the company, whether booked as a one-off visit or as part of a recurring service arrangement.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that all information provided at the time of booking is accurate and complete. This includes property access details, the type and size of the areas to be cleaned, any known stains, damage, fabric sensitivities, parking restrictions, and any special instructions that may affect the service. Shoreditch Carpetcleaning may rely on this information when preparing a quote, allocating time, and selecting suitable equipment and cleaning methods. If information later turns out to be inaccurate or incomplete, the company may revise the price, amend the scope of work, or refuse the service if the task cannot be carried out safely or effectively.
All services are subject to availability and acceptance by Shoreditch Carpetcleaning. A booking request does not become confirmed until the company has acknowledged it and provided a booking reference or written confirmation. The company may decline a booking at its discretion, including where the job falls outside its service standards, where access is unsuitable, or where the property conditions present an unacceptable risk. The customer must ensure that an adult over the age of 18 is present or otherwise available to give access and approval at the start and completion of the work unless a different arrangement has been expressly agreed in advance.
Where a quotation is supplied, it is based on the information available at the time and may be subject to inspection on arrival. The final charge may differ from the initial estimate if the actual conditions require additional labour, extended drying times, specialist chemicals, stain treatment, furniture moving, or extra equipment. Shoreditch Carpetcleaning will aim to explain any material change before additional work is undertaken, but the customer accepts that a site inspection may reveal issues that could not reasonably be identified beforehand. Quotations are typically valid for a limited period and may be withdrawn or revised if the requested service date changes or if the scope of work is altered by the customer.
Appointments are scheduled within agreed time windows, and while every effort is made to attend on time, arrival times are approximate rather than guaranteed. Delays can occur due to traffic, weather, access issues, or overruns on previous jobs. If a delay is anticipated, the company will try to notify the customer as soon as reasonably possible. The customer must provide safe access to the property, working power, water if required, and sufficient space for equipment where necessary. If the team cannot gain access, or if the property is unsuitable for cleaning upon arrival, the visit may be treated as a late cancellation and a call-out charge or minimum fee may apply.
For services involving multiple rooms, stairs, upholstery, or combined cleaning packages, the customer should understand that the duration and outcome depend on condition, material type, and environmental factors. Shoreditch Carpetcleaning will use reasonable care and skill, but no promise is made that every stain, mark, odour, or sign of wear can be completely removed. The customer acknowledges that older carpets may have pre-existing fading, pile distortion, or previous treatment residues that affect results. If the customer wishes to discuss particular concerns, these should be disclosed before the appointment so that the most suitable carpet cleaning method can be selected.
Payments are due in accordance with the terms stated in the booking confirmation or invoice. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment must be made on the day the service is completed. Accepted methods may include bank transfer, card payment, or other authorised means notified by the company. Cash may be accepted at the company’s discretion, but the customer should not assume that cash is the preferred or only option. Any deposit requested to secure a booking is non-refundable except where Shoreditch Carpetcleaning cancels the appointment or otherwise agrees in writing to return it.
Prices are usually quoted inclusive or exclusive of VAT depending on the company’s invoicing position at the time of booking, and the customer will be informed if VAT is applicable. If additional work is requested on site, such as deeper stain treatment, sanitising, deodorising, heavy-duty carpet cleaning, or the treatment of unexpected problem areas, the extra charge will be added to the final invoice. The customer agrees to pay all amounts properly due. If payment is not made on time, Shoreditch Carpetcleaning reserves the right to suspend future bookings, charge reasonable recovery costs, and pursue unpaid sums through lawful means.
In the event of late payment, the company may also charge interest and compensation where permitted by law and where the customer is acting in a business capacity, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts legislation and any other applicable rules. For consumer bookings, any additional sums will be limited to what is lawful and reasonably recoverable. If a payment card is declined or a bank transfer is not received in cleared funds, the booking may remain outstanding until the full amount is settled. The customer is responsible for any charges their bank or payment provider imposes in connection with the transaction.
Bookings may be cancelled or rescheduled by the customer by giving reasonable notice. If the customer cancels with sufficient notice, Shoreditch Carpetcleaning may, at its discretion, offer an alternative date or waive any charge already incurred. However, if the cancellation occurs shortly before the appointment, after equipment has been dispatched, or after the team has arrived at the property, a cancellation fee may apply. This may include the full booking price where the slot could not reasonably be reallocated. Where a deposit has been paid, it may be retained in full or part as compensation for lost time and administration.
If the customer is absent at the agreed time, refuses access, or fails to prepare the property as reasonably required, the appointment may be cancelled by the company and charged accordingly. Shoreditch Carpetcleaning may also cancel or postpone a booking due to staff illness, unsafe working conditions, equipment failure, severe weather, or circumstances beyond its control. In such cases, the company will seek to rearrange the service within a reasonable time. If rebooking is not possible, any prepaid amount for the cancelled visit will normally be refunded, except for work already completed or non-recoverable third-party costs.
The customer may request changes to the service after booking, but all changes are subject to availability and may affect the price and timing. Where a job is altered significantly, the company may treat the amended request as a new booking. If the customer believes they have a right to cancel under consumer law, they should note that certain services booked for a specific date or time may not carry the usual cooling-off cancellation right once performance has begun, especially where the customer has expressly requested an early start or a fixed appointment. Any statutory rights that cannot be excluded remain unaffected by these terms.
Shoreditch Carpetcleaning will carry out services with reasonable care and skill, using methods and products considered suitable for the surface and level of soiling described. The company does not accept responsibility for pre-existing faults, concealed damage, worn fibres, colour loss caused by age, or defects revealed during the cleaning process. Some carpets may react unpredictably to water, detergents, stain removers, or agitation, particularly if they are delicate, antique, loosely fitted, or previously treated by another cleaner. The customer accepts that outcomes may vary and that perfect restoration cannot be guaranteed.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the company shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or loss arising from delay, except where such exclusion is unlawful. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited under UK law. Where liability is established, the company’s responsibility will ordinarily be limited to the price paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim, unless a greater amount is required by law.
Customers must remove fragile items, valuables, ornaments, loose cables, and other breakables before the appointment begins. Although the team may help move small items where practical, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the area is prepared and that hidden risks are disclosed. If furniture is moved by the company, this will be done only where reasonably safe and with due care, but the company is not liable for damage to items that are unstable, poorly assembled, damaged, or too heavy to move safely. The customer should also point out any pre-existing damage before work begins so that a fair record can be made.
Waste generated during carpet cleaning, including dirty water, removed residues, used cloths, filters, and packaging, will be handled in accordance with applicable UK waste regulations. Shoreditch Carpetcleaning will take reasonable steps to prevent pollution and dispose of waste responsibly. Where waste must be transported off site, it will be managed through lawful routes and in line with environmental obligations. The customer must not request or require the company to dispose of household rubbish, hazardous materials, needles, chemicals, asbestos, sewage, or any other controlled waste outside the scope of the booked service.
If cleaning reveals mould, pest activity, bodily fluids, or other biohazards, the company may pause work and require additional assessment or specialist treatment. Such conditions may be outside standard carpet cleaning services and may involve extra costs or refusal to continue. The customer must notify the company in advance if any area is suspected to contain hazardous materials or contamination. Where the company decides that cleaning cannot safely proceed, this will not be treated as a breach of contract. Any recommendation to involve a specialist contractor is made for safety and compliance reasons only and should be followed where appropriate.
The customer agrees that the property will be reasonably ventilated where possible after cleaning and that freshly cleaned areas will be kept clear until safe to use. Drying times vary depending on carpet type, humidity, ventilation, and cleaning intensity. Shoreditch Carpetcleaning is not responsible for damage caused by premature use, furniture being replaced too early, or failure to follow aftercare instructions given on site. Any protective products, deodorising treatments, or stain repellents supplied as part of the service are provided without guarantee unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or connected with the services, except where the customer is entitled to bring proceedings in another UK jurisdiction under mandatory consumer law. If any part of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. No failure or delay by Shoreditch Carpetcleaning in exercising any right under these terms shall operate as a waiver of that right.
Shoreditch Carpetcleaning may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect legal, operational, or commercial changes. The version in force at the time of booking will normally apply to that booking unless a newer version is expressly agreed. Customers are encouraged to review the terms before confirming an appointment so they understand their rights and obligations. By proceeding with a booking, the customer confirms that they accept these terms as the contract governing the service, subject always to any non-excludable statutory rights.
